In light of the recent US elections (2016) and the recognition of our increasingly polarised world, we have acted with complacency and even ignorance. We have failed to recognise the next generation of problems facing society and calling for designers to work on them. These problems could be as diverse as radicalisation, global warming, war and rehabilitation. We have failed to convince our allies that these problems are worth tackling. We have reinforced professional habits as old as the industrial revolution without recognising that they need to change to meet these new challenges. If we did do something about it, it is clearly not enough.
